The long awaited CD Debut Release of Zon del Barrio. Salsa, Bomba, Plena and Sandunga. This CD is Hot! This recording is dedicated to Rafael Cortijo y su Combo and Ismael Rivera who defined a nation through his music and ignited an Afro-Caribbean movement of sounds that paved the way for the salsa music we enjoy today. The live, acapella interludes are snatches of what you would hear in the streets of any barrio where people just come together to drum and sing. The recording was done in tribute to another great Boricua , Al Santiago, who pioneered salsa recordings in NYC and who was also mentor to me as was Cortijo & Maelo on this journey of music we call salsa.Liner notes were written with comments by yet another mentor, Rene Lopez.
