El Desayuno was an accident. The band was thrown together with a weeks notice to play and outdoor show late summer of 2006. It was raw, but really energizing. We decided to rehearse a few times, then play a show in San Francisco a month later and then a show in Martinez a month later. It became clear that this band thrived on musical instinct and the energy that empowers it. With just a handful of rehearsals and 3 shows under our belt, we decided to roll in the recording crew to Armandos, a small, hearty club East of San Francisco.
The goal of the experiment was to capture the live, raw energy of the band. And what a great night it was. We were lucky enough to have it, and are lucky enough to share it with you by way of this CD. Listen for the spontaneous moments, listen for the warm energy of the people combined with the music, and see if you can't help but dance with yourself.
